I’ve moved my personal website over to the latest version of Drupal, moved machines, changed the theme, and changed the url.
We’re now humming along with the version 5.1 release of Drupal, the best one yet, with lots of nifty features in both core and contrib that I’m looking forward to exploiting here. The theme that I had planned on doing for this site (I had even considered it for the old version of the site) ended up looking a bit too much like the default Drupal 5 theme, “Garland,” and, beautiful though it is, I wanted something different. So, here’s a new from-scratch theme for this site. It’s still got some kinks, and not fully tested with every combination of browser/OS that I can, but, it seems fine enough to get started. Please leave a comment here if you’re having trouble with the site. There are still several rough edges here and there. Most of them should be with the theme, but I’m sure there are still bugs in the code to be worked out.
I’ve also moved server hardware. No longer hosted on my employer’s hardware, this new site is on a machine that I actually own, which should make it easier to play around with it, and move the site when I change jobs, or find a good colo that I’m happy with. For now, UMCES is still giving me my bandwidth, so, this will remain a non-commercial site.
The proper URL for this site is now http://oif.eafarris.com, though www.eafarris.com will still work. Right now, it’s just a redirect from the old domain to this one. I’ll update the DNS for eafarris.com soon. I’ll continue to advertise www.eafarris.com as my official website, and this URL change will give me the flexibility to keep this site operational while having a different ‘official’ spot on the web if I so choose.
Anyway, hopefully there aren’t too many gremlins running around. Leave a comment here if you’ve got one. Thanks for stopping by.
