Commodore 64

Our family’s first personal computer. We bought it at Hills around 1983, along with a 1541 160K 5.25” floppy disk drive.

Some of my favorite games for the C64 were:

  • Summer Games
  • Jumpman
  • Raid on Bungling Bay
  • Blue Max
  • Forbidden Forest
  • Beach Head
  • Raid Over Moscow
  • M. U. L. E

Though it was known for its games, I also did a fair amount of BASIC programming on it, and taught myself the 6502 Assembly language.

I am pleased to have a couple of these machines in my old computer collection, including an SX-64, a luggable version of the machine that has the distinction of being the first full color “portable” computer, and a C-128, the 128K PC that featured C64 compatibility as well as CP/M and 80-column capabilities.
