A repository for anti-virus solutions from Network Associates, for managing networked computers. Uses an agent on the client side to talk to the server, which handles updates to the VirusScan engine, DAT files, and the installation of VirusScan itself. Also manages McAfee’s ThreatScan product, a vulnerability reporting package, as well as McAfee System Compliance Profiler, which can check and report back to ePO things like registry settings and the presence of executables.
WSUS is a Microsoft software package that does a similar thing for Windows and MS Office packages.
Notes
To allow ePO to coexist with the Windows XP SP2 firewall, open port 80 and 8081 (by default) on the client.
