Never has there been the more consummate team player. From an undrafted free agent making league minimum through his rise to the list of elite wide receivers in the NFL, he remained a coachable, humble, respectful player, teammate, and man. I did not see each of his 68 touchdown catches (most of any undrafted player), but I know that I never did see him do an endzone dance. Saith the Rod:
I didn’t have any dances, I didn’t spike the ball, I didn’t say ‘Hey, look at me,’ And the reason is I knew those other 10 guys had more to do with it than I did. I was just the end result.
Class.
Thanks, Rod, for all the great memories. I raise a glass in your general direction.
