The next three films after Up from Pixar will be sequels: Toy Story 3, Cars 2, and Monsters, Inc. 2. This is a disturbing trend. The quality of their other sequel, Toy Story 2, which was as good if not better than the original, does give some hope, but I’m finding it hard to see how this ends well. Is this the Disney influence at work here? Disney, which hasn’t had an original idea since… well, quite some time? Is it financial? Did we not buy enough Lightning McQueen playsets?
