Mike Ash, of Rogue Amoeba, on how the iPhone’s artificial restrictions, along with other recent behavior on the part of Apple, Inc., could signal the end of our beloved Mac OS X. Executive summary:
The iPhone is not just a crappy platform. It’s a crappy platform which may very well turn our beloved Mac OS X into a crappy platform too.
He elucidates some of the mind-numbing foolishness that his iPod Touch makes him go through, which makes me even happier that I decided against the iPod Touch and went instead with the Nokia N810.
Some of it strikes me as over reacting, some of it is spot on. To borrow from the ancient Chinese curse: We use our Macs in interesting times.
