Pledge of Allegiance
This is a commercial for my army and my navy
This is a rehearsal for all the empty promises I will be
And I won’t let you down
I won’t let you down
And I won’t let you down
Done letting you down
This is a commercial for freedom while freedom is in hades
This is a rehearsal of incoherant double talk and maybes
And it won’t let you down
It won’t let you down
It won’t let you down
Done letting you down
It’s okay to be their disappointment baby
It’s okay to fly the flag
It’s okay to be my disappointment baby
It’s okay to fly the flag
This is a commercial for my army and my navy
This is a rehearsal for all the empty promises I will be
And I won’t let you down
I won’t let you down
I won’t let you down
Done letting you down

The Educated Candidate
I’ve often said that I want my President to be as educated as possible. Call me elitist if you wish, but I believe that, between two people, the most educated of the two will make the best, most rational choice most of the time. While both of the major tickets fail to share my beliefs (no big surprise; my favorite fictional POTUS doesn’t either), in the matter of which is more educated, it’s pretty clear. From Pharyngula comes this scorecard:
Barack Obama
- B. A., Columbia University. Political Science, specialization in International Relations.
- J. D., Harvard University, Magna Cum Laude
Joseph Biden
- B. A., University of Delaware, History.
- B. A., University of Delaware, Political Science.
- J. D., Syracuse University College of Law.
John McCain
- United States Naval Acadamy, ranked 894th of 899 students.
- United States War College.
Sarah Palin
- Hawaii Pacific University, 1 semester.
- North Idaho College, general studies, 2 semesters.
- University of Idaho, journalism, 2 semesters.
- Matanuska-Susitna College, 1 semester.
- B. A., University of Idaho, Journalism (3 semesters).
An Easy Choice
In this next election, we’ve got to choose between the 21st century rationalism and Dark Age inanity. It ought to be an easy choice.
