Maker of some of the most popular software for Macs and Windows, including the Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader PDF solutions.

If it’s not best known for Acrobat, Adobe is best known as the publisher of Photoshop, the premier raster-based graphics editing app for both Mac and Windows.

Adobe is also the publisher and owner of some very common specifications and technologies, including the PostScript language (and its youngest offspring, PDF), and the PostScript Font format, PSF.

Adobe gets a generally bad rap as an evil company, usually right behind Microsoft in evilness. Most famously, Adobe invoked the DMCA to get a Russian programmer arrested when he pointed out trivial flaws in Adobe’s DRM implementation on ebooks.
