RX-51

RX-51 is the code name for the next Internet Tablet from Nokia, replacing the venerable Nokia N810.

(this wiki node exists to document the probable hardware specifications)

Rumored features

These features are only rumor, but the code for the operating system (“Fremantle”) hint at the following:

  • TI-based wifi chip. Includes FM radio receiver (like the N800) and transmitter support, along with RDS.
  • Three-dimensional accelerometer. Will be able to tell the device’s orientation in 3D space, including face-up, face-down, and when placed on its kickstand.
  • 5MP camera with flash
  • Second, VGA-quality camera for video conferencing
  • Pre-amp for better speaker and headphone output.

Announced features

  • CPU: TI OMAP 3430
  • HSPA mobile connectivity

Expected features

These are features already present on the current Internet Tablets.

  • WiFi 802.11g
  • Stereo bluetooth
  • USB with host mode
  • GPS (though hopefully it will be improved over the N810’s very anemic GPS)
  • backlit slide-out keyboard
  • Touch screen at 800x480
