Debian-based, desktop friendly Linux distribution. Its tagline is “Linux for Human Beings,” which plays on the both ‘mere mortals’ connotation as well as the ‘greater good’ connotation. It does both very well. Ubuntu comes from ancient African, roughly translated as “Humanity to others” or “I am what I am because we are what we are.”
